Co-op in Yet Another Zombie Survivors
Three survivors. One pair of hands. No online lobby in 1.0.
Yet Another Zombie Survivors is a single-player bullet heaven. You command up to three survivors as one blob. A second person cannot join Isolated City, Bio Lab, or any other arena. There is no local couch split, no online lobby, and no cross-play between Steam and Xbox. The store page said so through Early Access and 1.0 did not reverse it. This page exists because “YAZS co-op” is still a weekly search and a weekly refund thread.
The three names on the loadout screen are not three controllers. Leader perk is full. Rescue perks are half. Ranks farm on the leader you actually steer. That math is Survivors Hub and how to unlock survivors. It is not a hidden invite menu.
What the studio has actually said
Awesome Games Studio built a single-player loop first, like most of the genre. On Steam they have said online play is possible later, not promised for a date, and that netcode for hundreds of bullets is not a weekend patch. Treat that as a maybe on the Trello, not as a 1.0 feature you missed in Options. If a card still says “online” in a someday column, hover it, then play the game you own.
Steam Remote Play Together can stream a PC session to a friend. That is one keyboard steering the blob while someone watches, or an awkward hand-off. It is not native co-op. It does not connect a Steam copy to an Xbox copy. It does not split the three survivors into three human players. If that stream is fun for you, use it. Do not file a bug that the second mouse cannot pick Huntress independently.
Why people still ask
The squad screenshot looks like Left 4 Dead. The name has Survivors in it. Console trailers show a group. None of that is a lobby. Vampire Survivors-likes are usually one player. This one kept the rule and spent 1.0 on Ranger, Bio Lab, the Camp, prestige, and a rebuilt Boss Rush instead of replication.
If you bought expecting co-op, the honest pages are this one and the 1.0 review. If you stay, the skill is movement: Getting Started and controls. The second and third bodies are AI guns, not roommates.
What 1.0 added that is not multiplayer
Team Bond (the 1.0.0c name for Friendship) is a shared Cash and Specialization bonus on your account, capped at 250. It is not a second player. Camp missions can ask you to lead Medic. That is still you. Team Bond and HUB and quests explain the meta. Infinite leaderboards compare solo lawnmowers, not duos. How to unlock Infinite is a 30-minute Endurance exam you take alone.
Platforms
Steam, GOG, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series all shipped 1.0 as the same single-player product. Switch is planned after that launch and is not a co-op exception. Demo builds are also solo: demo. Handheld couch sessions on Steam Deck still use one stick.
This wiki will not invent a drop-in date. When the studio ships a real multiplayer mode, this page will change and hotfixes will say so. Until then, invite a friend to watch a dawn, not to take slot two.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Does Yet Another Zombie Survivors have co-op?
No. One player steers up to three survivors. There is no online or local multiplayer in 1.0.
Can Steam and Xbox play together?
No. There is no cross-play lobby. Remote Play is a stream of a single-player session, not a shared match.
Will co-op come later?
The studio has called online a later maybe, not a 1.0 promise. Watch Trello and Steam news, not rumors.
Why are there three characters then?
They are one squad under one cursor. Leader perk is full; rescues give half.
