Yet Another Zombie Survivors How to Unlock Ranger

Ranger is the ninth survivor. She arrived with version 1.0 on 20 August 2026. The gate is not a map clear and not a boss counter. Hover her silhouette on the loadout screen: Survival Level 175 on the account. When the number hits, she unlocks automatically. This page is only that clock. Survival Level is account XP, not a run timer. Default dawns pay. Endurance pays more because the clock keeps going. Infinite is a poor farmer for this badge: most achievements are off and the point is lawnmowing, not a clean XP route. Role Player on the Training board is the honest first spend. Refund vanity nodes. Bigger Bullets and Gotta Go Fast still help you live long enough to vacuum gems.

How to actually reach 175

Stay on Isolated City until the city feels honest. Getting Started is the first hour; the dedicated dawn walkthrough is Survive until dawn. Then run city Endurance and stop dying at minute eighteen. After hotfix 1.0.0c, XP gems keep dropping when the on-screen pile would have frozen; oldest gems combine so account XP is not silently deleted. That patch helps this grind. It does not skip you to 175.

Do not farm Bio Lab for Ranger. The toxic rim is an extra fail state and you do not need the ninth survivor to open the ring — Dead Terminal Default does. See Bio Lab and maps. Do not lead a rank-1 Ranger into Hardcore or Boss Rush the night she appears. Lead SWAT. Rescue Ranger. Rank her on city Default. Camp missions can ask you to lead her early. Decline, or complete the objective as a rescue. Mission Log lets you retry on your schedule. Team Bond still fills from missions you finish with the workhorse squad.

After she unlocks

Read Ranger before you rewrite the tier list in your head. She is an aura and a status, not a replacement rifle. Pair her as rescue with SWAT and Engineer. Use the squad planner if you are about to triple her for a screenshot. Weapon finish still beats pet gadgets: weapon tiers.

Survival Level is not rank

Rank 2 is 5,000 leader kills on Ranger after she is already unlocked. Survival Level 175 is the account XP bar that opens the silhouette. Mixing the two clocks is how people farm city Hardcore with SWAT for a week and still see a lock. Role Player speeds the account bar. Leader kills speed her tree. Do both, but read the tooltip that is actually on her card.

What this is not

This is not Huntress (fifteen minutes in one run), Ghost (100 bosses), Medic (200 kits), or Mechanic (ability activations). Those counters are different rows on the checklist. Mixing them with Survival Level is how Steam threads stay wrong for a week after 1.0.
