Yet Another Zombie Survivors How to Survive Isolated City
First map, SOS rescues, gem routing, and the dawn that opens the rest of 1.0.
Isolated City is the first map in Yet Another Zombie Survivors and it is still the school after version 1.0 launched on 20 August 2026. The current patch is 1.0.0c2. You steer a single-player squad of up to three survivors across asphalt, parking lots, and spit cones. Nobody else is coming. There is no co-op. There is no fourth friend. Default dawn here lasts about twenty minutes. Win that clock and Isolated City starts unlocking Endurance, later Hardcore, Boss Rush, and One Hit for this map only. Win it and the next map, Vile Wasteland, also opens. Lose it and Bio Lab, Ranger, and prestige are noise.
If this is night one, read Getting Started and Controls in the same sitting. E toggles aim. R toggles fire. Leave auto-aim and auto-fire on. Isolated City punishes standing still, not a missing combo sheet. The Default minute clock lives on Survive until dawn. This page is the city itself: first-hour loop, SOS rescues, gem routing, the local bestiary, the workhorse trio, Hardcore’s ten minutes, and when you are actually allowed to leave.
The first-hour loop
Pick SWAT as leader. Drop Isolated City Default. The second the run starts, look at the nearest gem line and begin a wide circle. Do not hug a corner. Corners are where a Spitter cone and a later Butcher pin the blob. Take the first ability so the kit exists, then refuse extra gadgets until the Assault Rifle is on its evolution path. Vacuum gems that already sit on your orbit. When a screen corner flashes, walk to the SOS. Accept the first two rescues. Survive until the sky changes and leftover zombies drop. That is dawn. After the run, spend money on Training Points: Role Player for XP, Gotta Go Fast for movement, Bigger Bullets for the gun. Every point is refundable. Repeat until dawn is boring. Then chase Huntress at fifteen minutes. Then look at Hardcore.
Camp missions are optional. Team Bond is optional. The HUB will still be there. Ranger is not this hour. Bio Lab is not this map.
Movement beats aim
The squad aims and shoots on timers. Your hands stay on movement, pickups, and the level-up board. Isolated City has no toxic rim and no desert worm. The fail condition is density plus spit. Standing still to “aim” is how a Spitter cone clips the blob while trash fills the gap behind you. Strafe perpendicular to spit. Keep an exit lane. When three sides close, cut the thinnest edge or burn a movement power-up. Magnets yank every gem on the map; save them for a death donut you refuse to walk into. Health kits look like red hearts and expire if you leave them. Walk over a heart only when you are actually hurt.
If minute sixteen feels unfair, you stopped moving, you upgraded toys before the gun, or you ignored a rescue until the lot closed. Refund the tree. Walk again.
SOS rescues
Corners ping when a survivor can join. Walk there. Cap is three including the leader. A rescued teammate donates half of their leader perk. Skipping a ping to “stay small” is a challenge run, not a beginner plan. Two extra guns raise outgoing fire and also make the hitbox feel busier, so the circle has to stay honest. Pings are not infinite. Skip twice on Isolated City and you dawn as a duo. If the wrong name pops, wait for another ping or take them and play the B version of the recipe. Who is even legal is listed on how to unlock survivors. SWAT, Engineer, and Tank start unlocked, so if you led SWAT the first two pings should be those two.
Gem routing
Gems are the XP trail. Isolated City is a parking lot, not a maze. Start a wide orbit and pick the nearest line that does not reverse you into spit. Do not vacuum a pile in the center of a pack. Do not turn around for a chest if the lane behind you already closed. An early magnet is a panic button you will want at minute eighteen. Pickup radius becomes real once the rifle exists. Role Player makes the same route evolve the gun before danger six. The dawn guide is the clock. This paragraph is the floor: walk the gems that already sit on your circle.
Spitter, Boomer, Butcher, Witch, Charger
Trash zombies fill the screen. Isolated City’s unique annoyance is the Spitter. Acid cones punish standing still. Spit has travel time and is visible. Move perpendicular. If you stop to line up a shot, a cone is already in the air.
A Boomer dies into a gas cloud. Do not stand on the corpse pile, especially once Endurance starts stacking bodies. The cloud also hurts other zombies. That is a bonus, not a reason to camp the puff.
Butcher is the common city boss: large health, charge, melee. The charge shows a predictive arrow. Move perpendicular once it locks. You do not need to eat the whole bar. Loop, clip, leave.
Witch summons flies that charge in a straight line. Kill the Witch. AoE such as Energy Shield or a turret clears the flies. Do not stand still to “finish the swarm.”
Charger winds up a linear slam with the same kind of arrow. Sidestep at lock. Chargers show up more in Hardcore and Endurance. Treat them like a moving wall, not a DPS exam.
The full table lives on Enemies. Isolated City is Basic Zombie, Runner, Spitter, Boomer, plus occasional Butcher, Witch, and Charger. Learn those seven names here. Desert spitters and the worm wait for Vile Wasteland.
Workhorse squad
Leader: SWAT. Rescues: Engineer and Tank. Rifle, Energy Shield, rockets. That trio is still the S recipe on best squads. Huntress can replace Tank after the fifteen-minute unlock if Eagle Eye is online. Ranger is a 1.0 rescue, not an unranked city lead. Medic lead is a Camp clipboard, not a geometry teacher. Finish the leader gun before you collect four mediocre gadgets.
Hardcore is ten minutes
Isolated City Hardcore is the first Hardcore badge you should chase. It is not Default with louder music. Ten mean minutes. Evolve the rifle immediately. Keep moving. Turrets steal the tile you needed for an exit. Survive the clock. You do not need to vacuum the last boss pile. Unlock is per map, usually after Default and an Endurance badge. Isolated City Hardcore does not gift Green Hell Hardcore. Use How to beat Hardcore when dawn clears start to feel automatic.
Endurance on this lot is the same movement with no mercy clock. Survive twenty minutes to “complete” it. Infinite unlocks at thirty minutes of Endurance per arena after hotfix 1.0.0c. That is a later flex. Boss Rush was rebuilt at 1.0 into a timed finale around minute ten. One Hit is a five-minute joke exam. Hover the icon. Modes unlock per map through achievements.
When to leave for Vile Wasteland
Leave when Isolated City Default is a badge you can repeat without thinking. Winning Default here is the key that opens Vile Wasteland. The desert adds a worm that is a moving wall. If Spitter cones still kill you on asphalt, the worm will eat you. Stay in the city to farm Huntress, Ghost, Medic, and Mechanic counters. Bio Lab is a terrible first farm because the ring adds a fail condition that is not the horde. The chain and later hazards live on the maps walkthrough.
Camp and missions are optional. Take a clipboard when Isolated City is already honest. Skip it when you only want badges. Team Bond, the 1.0.0c name for Friendship, feeds shared Cash and Specialization from those missions and caps at 250. You do not need a story briefing to kite a Spitter.
If Isolated City still kills you, it is almost never missing Ranger. It is a missing circle. Put SWAT in slot one, accept two rescues, walk, and take the lot to dawn again.

What squad should I use?
SWAT as leader, then rescue Engineer and Tank. Huntress can replace Tank after fifteen minutes.
