Best Builds in Yet Another Zombie Survivors
Ability order, gun lines, and the partners who make them legal.
A build is the order you spend level-ups, not a screenshot of a full tree. Take each ability once, finish the weapon, then dump into the ability that is already deleting the horde. That sentence is the whole wiki. Everything below is who it applies to after 1.0. Pair with weapon tiers, squads, and training.
SWAT
Gun: Assault Rifle. Abilities: Helicopter Strike first among gadgets, Automatic Turret second, Grenade Trail last or skip. Leader perk is the reason he is S. Partners: Engineer and Tank, or Engineer and Huntress. Skip sniper until Boss Rush. Skip launcher until dawn is boring. This is the Getting Started kit on purpose.
Tank
Gun: Rocket Launcher (shotgun and minigun are the road). Abilities: Bombing Strike early, then the rest as late insurance. Leader perk is armor; start him when you want to learn wasteland worms by deleting them. Partners: Engineer plus Huntress for crit rockets, or SWAT plus Engineer if you still need a rifle. Do not leader Tank on your very first Isolated City night unless you enjoy slow minutes two through five.
Engineer
Shield is the build. Electrocute and turrets are the garnish. Leader Engineer is a Tesla main. Rescue Engineer is the correct default. Cooldown Training is his steroid. Zero cooldown is a hitch. Partners: anyone who actually deals damage. Without a SWAT or Tank, you have a pretty fence.
Huntress
Gun: bow stacks into multi-shot. Abilities: Eagle Eye is the team card, Arrow Rain is the screen card, decoy is the “please hit her instead” card. Unlock at fifteen minutes. Rescue her even if you never lead her. Leader Huntress wants crit Training and a shield partner. Hardcore lead is optional after one successful Default bow evolution.
Ghost
Crit protocol and Thousand Cuts. Lead him for boss farms after you can already kite. Partners: SWAT and Engineer, or SWAT and Tank if you accept the missing shield. Not a dawn teacher.
Medic
Heal, revive windows, low DPS. Build her only for unlocks, HUB quests, or teaching. If the board offers a gun upgrade on SWAT and a heal on Medic, take the gun.
Mechanic
Ice turret, Cooling Mods, ability amp, wrench toys. Build her when cooldown Training exists and Engineer is already in the squad. Partners: Engineer and SWAT. Read her tree; she is not a pistol with extra steps.
Pyro
Burn. Green Hell and clumped Endurance. Partners: Tank or Engineer. Isolated City Default does not need her.
Ranger (1.0)
Crossbow, animals, Fear, crit/luck aura, ally heals. Steep. Rank her. Partners: SWAT and Engineer so someone still has a normal gun while Fear applies. Bio Lab is her exam, not Isolated City minute three. See version 1.0.
Mode modifiers
Default: SWAT workhorse. Hardcore: same, more speed, fewer turrets, kite at 9:00 as in the Hardcore guide. Endurance 30+: cooldown shield, single-target, accept that lawnmowers stall. One Hit: ignore HP, take speed and delete. Boss Rush 1.0: burst for the minute-ten finale.
Board hygiene
Reroll once if the gun is missing. Auto Selection is for farm nights. Chests are not builds; items explains greed. If two survivors want the same level-up, feed the unfinished weapon. If both weapons are finished, feed the ability with the shorter cooldown that is already popping.
When you are tired of reading, click three names in the squad planner and take Isolated City to dawn. If the build failed, you either split a weapon line or stood still. The tree is rarely the murderer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What is the best SWAT build?
Assault Rifle first, Helicopter Strike second, turret third, Grenade Trail last. Engineer and Tank or Huntress as partners.
Should I max every ability?
No. One point in each, then the gun, then the one ability that is already working.
Is Ranger a beginner build?
No. Rank her and keep SWAT in the squad until Fear is doing real work.
Where do Training Points fit?
Role Player, speed, and weapon damage before you obsess over a survivor tree.
