Yet Another Zombie Survivors on Steam Deck

Verified handheld, auto-fire loop, and the Display options that matter after 1.0.0b.

Steam Deck Guide

Yet Another Zombie Survivors is Steam Deck Verified. The studio earned the badge during Early Access after font and handheld work, and 1.0 kept the controller-first loop: you move the blob, the squad shoots. This page is the handheld desk. Store platforms, PC specs, and Switch plans stay on platforms. Combat still starts on Getting Started.

Verified does not mean the late swarm is free. Minute twenty on Isolated City is a different GPU tax than minute five. After hotfix 1.0.0b (21 August 2026), gameplay interfaces are no longer glued to 60 FPS. Raise Max FPS in Display to match the built-in panel or a docked 144 Hz screen. After 1.0.0c, Interface gained an FPS Counter so you can see whether the HUD or the horde is lying.

Controls on the Deck

Leave auto-aim and auto-fire on. The left stick is the skill. Face buttons map to the same E and R toggles the controls page describes; you rarely need them. Trackpads are optional. Gyro is a taste, not a requirement. The intended loop is couch-friendly: drop in, circle, vacuum gems, pick a card.

If the cursor sticks to the window after 1.0.0a, that was a launch bug. 1.0.0b added a Display toggle. 1.0.0c made unlocked the PC default again because locked cursors punished multi-monitor docks. On a pure handheld session the lock barely matters. On a dock with a second screen, unlocked is the honest setting.

Speed up and Slow down hotkeys from 1.0.0c are PC Remap Controls. Below 100 percent they disable leaderboards. On Deck, do not hunt a keyboard bind that is not on your overlay if you care about Infinite or Boss Rush boards. Permanent speed still lives under Accessibility. Hotkey speed lasts that run only after 1.0.0c2.

Performance that actually helps

Target a stable 40 or 45 FPS on the built-in panel if late Endurance hitching bothers you. Matching refresh to that cap often feels smoother than chasing 60 and dropping. Turn damage numbers off when the screen is a firework. Drop particle quality to medium before you touch resolution. Shader pre-caching on Steam is worth leaving enabled.

Proton 10 is the current SteamOS default path for this Windows build. If a patch week feels cursed, try Proton Experimental, then a current Proton-GE only if crashes persist. Verify game files after a bad dock session. None of that replaces updating to 1.0.0c2: Bio Lab Boss Rush could stick in transition on older 1.0 clients, and Flarebolt framedrops were reduced in that sub-hotfix.

Cloud saves follow your Steam account. Old Early Access cloud drama is history for most players; if a save looks empty after a dock swap, check which Steam user is logged in before you refund Training in a panic.

What to play on the train

Default Isolated City is the honest commute run: about twenty minutes, then dawn. Hardcore is ten mean minutes if you have a short platform wait. Do not start Bio Lab on a bumpy bus; the red decontamination band punishes a missed stick twitch. Quick Run skips Camp chatter when you only have one stop left.

Infinite still unlocks per arena by reaching 30 minutes of Endurance, not Hardcore. That is a long Deck session. Farm it docked or on a weekend. See how to unlock Infinite.

Battery: late swarms eat more watts than the title screen. Brightness down, 40 FPS cap, and a 45-minute Endurance attempt is a different pack than a dawn. Charge before you chase Ranger at Survival Level 175.

What this page will not invent

We will not publish a fake TDP table that pretends every Deck OLED is identical. We will not tell you Proton-GE is mandatory. We will not claim Switch is out. If Valve or the studio posts a new Deck note, believe Steam first, then this page.

Pair with hotfixes for FPS, cursor, and Bio Lab locks. Pair with training so a refund is one Camp visit away when the handheld session asks for speed instead of vanity nodes.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is Yet Another Zombie Survivors Steam Deck Verified?

Yes. The badge landed in Early Access and 1.0 kept the controller loop.

Why is the UI stuck at 60 FPS?

Launch leftover. 1.0.0b removed the gameplay interface cap. Raise Max FPS in Display.

Which Proton should I use?

Start with Proton 10. Try Experimental if a week feels broken. Proton-GE is a last experiment, not a requirement.

Can I unlock Infinite on Deck?

Yes, with the same rule: 30 minutes of Endurance on that arena. It is a long handheld session.
