Yet Another Zombie Survivors How to Unlock Infinite Mode
Thirty minutes of Endurance on that map. Hardcore is a different badge.
Infinite is the sandbox mode in Yet Another Zombie Survivors. Item slot limits loosen, the clock does not end the run, and leaderboards exist for people who want to mow the horde until the client wheezes. It is not Default with extra minutes. It is not Hardcore. Version 0.9 split the old Endless toy into Endurance (the exam) and Infinite (the playground). Version 1.0 kept that split and then spent a hotfix week telling the truth about the gate.
If a Steam thread, an Early Access guide, or an in-game tooltip still says you unlock Infinite by beating Hardcore, it is describing a superseded rule. The 1.0 changelog already set the real condition: reach 30 minutes in Endurance on that arena. Hotfix 1.0.0c on 26 August 2026 only fixed the lying tooltip. This page is the dedicated answer for the search “how to unlock Infinite.” The rest of the mode menu lives on game modes. Post-launch patches live on hotfixes.
The rule, per arena
Infinite unlocks per map. Thirty minutes of Endurance on Isolated City opens Infinite on Isolated City. It does not open Infinite on Vile Wasteland, Green Hell, Dead Terminal, or Bio Lab. Each arena has its own Endurance clock. Treat the mode list like a report card, not a global switch.
Endurance itself is the long exam: survive past the Default dawn window with denser danger and elites that wind up faster. You do not need to “win” Endurance in the Default sense. You need the timer to show 30:00 while you are still alive. Dying at 29:40 does not count. Quitting to menu does not count. A 1.0.0c speed hotkey below 100 percent on PC disables leaderboards; it does not secretly grant the Infinite badge. Play Endurance at normal speed if you are farming the unlock.
Hardcore is a ten-minute spike and the per-map gate for Boss Rush. It is a different exam. Clearing Isolated City Hardcore will not gift Infinite. Clearing Bio Lab Hardcore will not gift Infinite on the city. If the icon stays locked after a Hardcore clear, you did the wrong homework.
How to actually hit 30 minutes
Take the workhorse squad: SWAT leader, Engineer and Tank rescued. Spend Training on Role Player, Gotta Go Fast, and Bigger Bullets, then refund if the desert worm or Bio Lab ring asks for a different shape. Weapon-first level-ups still matter; gadgets that cannot fire often will not carry minute 25.
Isolated City Endurance is the classroom. Learn gem routing and magnet discipline on Survive until dawn first, then stay in the city until 30:00. Do not farm Bio Lab for this badge. The toxic rim is an extra fail state. Vile Wasteland adds the worm. Green Hell adds density. Dead Terminal adds elite pressure. Bio Lab adds the red decontamination band. Unlock Infinite on the city, then repeat the 30-minute Endurance on each later map when you actually want that map’s sandbox.
After 1.0.0c, XP gems keep dropping when the on-screen pile would have stopped. Oldest gems combine so the account XP is not silently deleted. That helps Survival Level, not the Infinite clock. The clock only cares that you are alive at 30:00.
What Infinite is for (and what it is not)
Infinite is for breaking item limits, testing a joke loadout, and posting a leaderboard time. Most achievements stay disabled here. Do not farm Story missions, Team Bond, or restriction badges inside Infinite and then wonder why Steam did not tick. Use Default, Endurance, Hardcore, and the Mission Log for those.
If you want a long run that still pays like an exam, stay on Endurance. If you want the lawnmower, wait for the Infinite icon. If the icon is missing after a 30-minute Endurance, update to 1.0.0c2, hover the tooltip, and confirm you were on that arena’s Endurance, not a speed-hacked run and not Hardcore.
Checklist
- Dawn Default on the map so Endurance exists.
- Start Endurance on that same map.
- Stay alive until 30:00. Rescue two teammates. Keep moving.
- Leave the run, open the mode list, hover Infinite.
- Repeat per map. Bio Lab last.
The unlock checklist has the same Infinite row. How to farm Survival Level is a different grind (Ranger at 175). Do not mix the two clocks.
Pair this page with platforms if your FPS or speed keys are sabotaging the attempt, and with hotfixes if you are still quoting launch-week Steam advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do I unlock Infinite in 1.0?
Reach 30 minutes in Endurance on that arena. Hardcore is not the gate. 1.0.0c only fixed the tooltip.
Does city Infinite unlock every map?
No. Each arena needs its own 30-minute Endurance clear.
Can I farm achievements in Infinite?
Most achievements are disabled. Use Default, Endurance, Hardcore, and the Mission Log instead.
I beat Hardcore and Infinite is still locked. Why?
You used the old rule. Play Endurance to 30:00 on that map, then hover the icon again.
